Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Monday, everybody!
I did these nails for Good Friday, but didn’t post them up. Shame on me. Rubbish blogger!

I started with a base of Barry M, gelly high shine – Blueberry. (I got a smudge on my thumb whilst waiting for it to dry, damn my impatience!)

Then I grabbed a bunch of nail art pens and put some Easter Eggs on there!

Just a quick one today.
Happy Easter!

Cutest Cupcakes EVER!

Hey guys!
Today’s post is for my Little Sister, Jessica! When she’s not too busy being the most awesome little sis in the world, she has been known to bake a few delicious cupcakes here and there.
So I thought I’d do an adorable cupcake manicure in her honour! For Jessie!

20130227-185139.jpg
How did I create this sickly-sweet, totally cute work of art, you ask? I’ll show you!
Step 1:- First, apply a thin base coat. Then, using a strip of Sellotape, section off the end of your nails leaving a little more room than if you were doing French Tips.

20130227-185706.jpg
Step 2:- Using Barry M – Bright Pink and Models Own – Lilac Dream, use a nail art brush to paint thin vertical stripes down the ends your nails.

20130227-185907.jpg
You should be left with something like this…

20130227-190010.jpg
Step 3:- Using my White nail art pen, I added some icing to the cupcakes.

20130227-190104.jpg
Step 4:- I decided they still weren’t quite cute enough, so added some cartoon faces with my black nail art pen, and rosey pink cheeks as sprinkles! Topped off with a sprinkle on the top!

20130227-190246.jpg
Finally, seal using a clear top coat to prolong the life of your manicure and VOILA! The world’s cutest cupcake nails (if I do say so myself) for the world’s best sister!

In response to my first Fan Request!

Hello there, readers!
Today’s post has been made in response to my first fan request!! Just to let you all know, that I do receive and read all messages sent via the Contact page here on FingeredByFournier.com!
This post is for Rachel, who emailed asking if I could do some nail art based on The Muppets, as she wanted to see what I’d come up with. Well Rachel, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! This one’s for you!

20130225-223446.jpg
I am NOT going to tell you how long this took! (hint: it’s longer than 5 minutes, less than infinity!!) But I don’t think it looks too bad! Not sure what occasion I could wear these nails for, but whatever the case, I’d be the coolest kid in the room!

20130225-224003.jpg

20130225-224104.jpg
Keep those messages coming in, readers! And who knows, maybe next time YOUR request will be featured, with a personal shout out to you and everything!! HOW EXCITING!!
I feel all warm and fuzzy now (lol puppets are fuzzy, too! The Muppets are puppets!) *ahem* …think I’ll end on that note :)

Barbie Pink and Swirly Stars!

Hey guys!
I need to get better at this blogging business! I’ve done my nails a bunch of times since my last post, but didn’t think any of them were blog-worthy. So for now I thought I’d just put up a photo or two of what today’s nails look like :)

20130224-163253.jpg
Pink! So very pink! This is one from a multipack I got for Christmas, from the 17 collection at Boots stores. I’ve posted about another from this collection before, and mentioned I was annoyed that the polishes have no individual name labels on the bottles. Booo! Poor form. Anyways, I didn’t realise quite how pink it actually was, as the colour looks different in the bottle to how it wears. But I’ve decided I love how it looks on the nail! It is very shockingly-pink, and pretty enough to be worn on its own! But you know me, I can’t resist a cheeky little stamp!

20130224-165136.jpg
And with the flash on it looks EVEN BRIGHTER!!

20130224-171233.jpg
Pink pink pink! I feel especially girly today. I’m gonna have to wear this colour again, it’s making me all cheerful and smiley! :)

My Little Pony! Nail art is magic!

So, I think My Little Pony is adorable. I play a My Little Pony game on my iPhone, and it’s quite addictive. Due to this, boyfriend bought me a MLP comic book, and then a couple of MLP toys and collectibles, and then the obsession just spiralled!
Having done a Jurassic Park themed mani (cos he likes Dinosaurs, see yesterday’s post) I thought today I’d do a Pony inspired one (cos I like My Little Pony)!

20130218-142655.jpg
This entire mani was done freehand using nail art pens, and took longer than I’m willing to admit. I think the ring finger probably took the longest due to all the intricate detail.

First I painted my basecoats, using Barry M – bright pink (pinky and thumb), Barry M Gelly – blueberry (middle finger), and Models Own – lilac dream (ring and index finger).

20130218-143105.jpg
Then came all the detail using my pens!

20130218-143209.jpg
And then TA-DAA! Adorable pony goodness so cute you could barf :)

20130218-143339.jpg
That’s it for today’s post! Take care Everypony!

Dinosaur Nail Art!

Hey guys! This post is just a quick one.
Me and my boyfriend were watching TV tonight while I was deciding what to do on my nails. Jurassic Park was on. He gestures at the TV and says “Why don’t you do this? Do the Jurassic Park logo! Reckon you could? Including the little happy dinosaur?” -challenge accepted!!

20130217-192427.jpg
The dinosaur on my thumb I did freehand using a black nail varnish pen, copied from the Jurassic Park logo which I googled and kept referring to the whole time! The thumb alone took like 20minutes!

20130217-192907.jpg
I’m not even gonna attempt to do this on my right hand! Far too intricate for a left-handed jobby. But Boyfriend is quite impressed with it, so thought I’d show you lot too!
RRAAWWRRR!!*
*that means “over and out” in Dinosaur.

Valentine’s nail (he)art!

Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody!
Today I’ve got just a little post to show you my super cute V-day nails!

20130214-145058.jpg
Nothing too fancy! Just a simple off-white base coat using Sally Hansen, 410 Lavender Cloud, then layering a bunch of stamps (taken from various Bundle Monster plates) using Barry M, 279 Bright Pink and a red nail varnish from Boots’s 17 collection, which annoyingly has no name label on it!

I love clashing pinks and reds on Valentine’s day! And even though I smudged it a bit when putting on a top coat, I still think it looks totes adorable!

20130214-145907.jpg
Have a nice day, lovebugs!

Bargain from Birmingham!

Going to visit the family in Birmingham is always dangerous for my nail varnish collection! There are just so many more shops up there, and bigger ones than down here too!
Temptation always gets the better of me. I tell myself this little white lie, “I’ll just have a quick look at the nail section, I probably won’t buy anything, I just wanna see what they’ve got” -yeah right! I’m totally gonna end up buying a ton of polish. And this time, I grabbed a superbargain!!

20130207-123403.jpg
OPI – The Man With The Golden Gun, a REAL 18K gold top coat!
This gorgeous polish is filled with flecks of gold leaf! I found it was kinda tricky to apply. I had to shake it up between painting each nail, because all the flecks fell to the bottom of the bottle and there wasn’t much coming out on the brush when I took the lid off. But layered over black it gives a colour-popping finish!

20130207-124136.jpg
GOLD! On my fingernails! 18K gold!! I think I’ll end on that note.

Ombré Safari!

Hey guys! So, lastnight I spent like over an hour doing this mani. I was bored and wanted something to do, so kept doing more and more to my nails! Building up the layers and layers of crazy.
How much is too much to have going on at once? I don’t know, but I think I came pretty close! Let me show you what I’m talking about…

20130130-122422.jpg
Ta-daaa!! RAINBOW OMBRÉ LEOPARD/ZEBRA PRINT!!
I used a zillion different nail varnishes for this one, so rather than list them all I’m gonna be lazy and just post a photo of all the ones I used.

20130130-123406.jpg
I used 3 shades for each nail, light-medium-dark. Then I used my black Konad stamping polish on top.
So first I painted the lightest colours on my nails as a base…

20130130-123617.jpg
Then I sponged-on the medium shade for each colour, starting about a third of the way down my nail from the cuticle. Then finally sponged-on the darkest shade on the tips! This is what it looked like before stamping…

20130130-123812.jpg
It doesn’t blend quite as well as I’d hoped, especially on my thumb, so I thought covering it up with stamps might add some extra detail and make it less noticeable!

20130130-124044.jpg
And this is my finished product! I think it’s pretty funky :p what do you think?
H xXx

Good moo-rning!

Okay, so that title didn’t exactly work. Oh well. That’s what I get for trying to be witty!

My new black stamping polish arrived yesterday! So today I thought I’d try out a different kind of animal print I’ve not done before. Cow print!

20130122-120207.jpg
I don’t really know why I chose Cow. I’m always doing leopard or zebra or something, and thought I’d try something different! To achieve this look, first I painted all my nails white. The only white polish I have is one from a French Manicure set! And as you can see from the pics it’s a bit streaky. White is so unforgiving, and so hard to work with! I absolutely had to do 2 coats just to get even coverage.

20130122-120516.jpg
Then I stamped cow print on top, using Bundle Monster plate BM-222, and my new polish I was waiting for, Konad, special nail polish – black.

20130122-120800.jpg
Et Voila! Moody moo cows. Divine Bovine, if you will.
